Portugal: House Rental Prices Rise 1.7%
In April, house rental prices in Portugal increased by 1.7% compared to the previous month. Stay updated on the latest housing market trends in Portugal.
The cost of renting a house in Portugal has seen a slight increase, with the median price now standing at 16.1 euros per square metre (euros/m2), as reported by the idealista price index. This uptick comes after two months of price stabilisation in the rental market. Among the 13 district capitals included in the study, only Castelo Branco experienced a decrease in house rents, with a decline of 2.5% in April. Conversely, several cities saw an increase in rental prices, with Faro leading the way with an 8.3% rise, followed by Évora (5.4%), Aveiro (5.3%), and Setúbal (3.6%), among others.
Lisbon remains the most expensive city to rent a house, with prices reaching 21.6 euros/m2. Porto and Funchal take the second and third spots, with rental prices of 17.4 euros/m2 and 13.8 euros/m2, respectively. On the other end of the spectrum, Castelo Branco offers the most affordable rental rates at 6.7 euros/m2, followed by Viseu (7.8 euros/m2), Leiria (8 euros/m2), and others.
Overall, the rental market in Portugal is showing signs of recovery, with varying trends across different cities. As the economy continues to stabilize, it will be interesting to see how rental prices evolve in the coming months.
