British Women Spent Lots of Money on Facial Skincare

According to a recent report from the market research firm Mintel, British women spent nearly £1.15 billion on skincare products on face in 2017. The sales of facial skincare products may increase by 3% to reach about £1.18 billion by the year of 2018. Over the next 5 years, it is expected to increase by 15% to reach about £1.36 billion by the year of 2013.

Mintel suggests some key trends and shopping behaviors in the facial skincare market in the coming years:
  • About 40% of British female users find it hard to know the proper level of sun protection to use daily.
  • Just 5% of British female users think that electronic devices can have negative effects on their skin
  • About 62% of British female users over the age of 55 think that sleep has the biggest effect on their skin.
When beauty trends are inspired by Korean skincare routines, UK women are following multiple cleansing routines and using different facial cleansing products for different occasions.
According to the report published by Mintel, facial cleansers are the most popular skincare product among British users. About 92% of UK female users use facial cleansers. While face wash is the most popular cleansing product in UK, facial cleansing wipes and micellar water are found to remain popular because of their convenience. Over the past year, using all cleansing products for facial skin has increased. Even, using traditional bar soap for facial skin has also increased.
When it comes to facial caring products, night cream and day cream have been proven to be on the rise. Last year, using day cream has risen from 59% to 66%; while using night cream has increased from 39% to 48%.
