The study analyzed over 501,000 participants and found that an increased frequency of adding salt to food was associated with a higher risk of premature death from all causes. The study also showed that the saltier the diet, the shorter the life expectancy.

Additionally, a high-salt diet can increase the risk of cancer, osteoporosis, and damage to the heart and blood vessels in the brain. Therefore, it is crucial to control salt intake in our diet.

One alternative to regular table salt is low sodium salt, which is made by adding potassium chloride to iodized table salt. This alternative contains roughly 30% less sodium compared to regular salt, reducing the risk of high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease. However, low-sodium salt may not be suitable for everyone, particularly those with heart disease and thyroid disease.

Overall, a balanced and light diet is essential for a healthy life. Controlling the amount of oil, salt, and sugar in our diets is crucial in achieving this balance. While it’s important to monitor salt intake, a balanced diet should also include essential amino acids found in animal protein foods to prevent weakness, pale skin, poor concentration, memory loss, and other symptoms associated with a mono-diet.
