Why is Venice flooding 2019? That’s because of the exceptional tide peaks in the Adriatric Sea which cause a phenomenon "acqua alta" or "high water". So, how does venice survive? At the moment, it can only count on a massive barrier known as known as the Modulo Sperimentale Elettromeccanico (MOSE) that is guessed ready by 2021 or 2022. This barrier comes with three separate flood barriers, one at each of the three inlets of the lagoon.
