1. The habit of using processed foods

The results of a recent study on diet and depression published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition showed: The healthier the diet, the lower the risk of depression.  Overuse of processed foods makes the body always feel like eating and eating in uncontrollable amounts, causing overweight and obesity, negatively affecting mental health.

So avoiding the overuse of processed foods and maintaining a healthy diet rich in fruits, vegetables, fish, and whole grains can help train your brain to not depend on junk food.

2. Spending too much time alone

According to TS.  Sucan Heirler, a clinical psychologist in the US, spending some time alone, sometimes with mental health benefits.  However, spending too much time in loneliness can reverse these effects and actually increase your risk of depression.  In order to protect ourselves from this, we should create and develop friendship relationships or balance relationships with others, it is an opportunity to exchange positive emotions and is also one of the best strategy for overcoming depression.

3. Media overload

Today, the fact that people use electronic media and devices is becoming more and more popular.  Smartphones, laptops, TVs and streaming services have become an integral part of life.  In fact, the average amount of time spent on these devices has doubled and has become a habit for many people.  This media overload can damage your brain.  A 2013 survey of 318 people published in the journals Cyberpsychology, Behavior and Social Networking found: People who regularly use media, experience more symptoms of depression and anxiety.

4. Too much time spent with negative people

Sometimes, negative comments or criticisms from friends, superiors or other important people can bring you more positive benefits in the way you think and act.  But over-exposure to people who emit negative energies on a daily basis can increase the risk of feeling depressed, down, and sometimes tired and stressed.

To overcome that situation, we should form good relationships with positive people, reinforce our actions, make life more meaningful.

5. Not enough time to live green

According to a study by the Central Institute of Mental Health, University of Heidelberg, Sweden, living in a big city is associated with higher levels of stress and mental illness, especially depression.

To avoid these effects, take frequent trips, go to rural areas to soak in nature and rest, stay away from the hustle and bustle of the city or take a walk outside to breathe the fresh air. Taking the time to take care of a few potted plants in the living space will relax your mind and ease your stress.

6. Going to bed late

One study found that people who went to bed later, had more chronic negative thoughts during the day, a behavior linked to depression.

Conversely, those who sleep early or on time will have less negative thoughts.  While the ideal bedtime to maximize your mood varies depending on your job or life needs, overall, going to bed early has many health benefits.

7. Lazy to move

Being sedentary and spending too much time on TV or electronic devices have a big impact on your physical and mental health.

Exercising or doing activities you enjoy can increase your mood and reduce your risk of feeling depressed.  During physical activity, the brain releases healthy chemicals such as endorphins and endocannabinoids that can alleviate feelings of sadness.
