The US Agency for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has just released a new report on the mental effects that many people in this country have experienced due to the Coronavirus-19 pandemic.
The survey was conducted online for 1 week with nearly 5,500 adults in the US. As a result, 31% of respondents reported experiencing symptoms of anxiety or depression, 26% had symptoms of a stress-related disorder, and 13% reported starting or increasing their substance use. 11% of the respondents said they had considered suicide.
The cause of these mental health problems is thought to originate from the effects of the Coronavirus-19 pandemic itself and also current prevention measures (such as social distancing or requiring people to stay indoors for days.)
