I. The link between a right diet (anxiety eating) and Anxiety Neurosis

 Assoc.Prof.Drew Ramsey - Clinician in Psychiatry, Columbia University, New York (USA) has analyzed important and long-term data related to the effects of diet and nutrition.  in the therapy of anxiety or depression.  Through interesting data in this field, Assoc.  Drew Ramsey has provided guidelines for the use of dietary support in patients with Anxiety Neurosis.

 In 2009, data on nutrition and anxiety began to be recorded by BS.Felice Jacka and colleagues.  This group of scientists studied Hordaland data, a large epidemiological data set (a process of continuous, meticulous monitoring and investigation to assess the nature of the disease and the causes of occurrence, the prevalence and spread of the disease, in order to find effective control and containment measures for the disease) in Scandinavia (Northern Europe), and they found: An association between institutional quality  Daily diet and mental disorders are common among adults in the community.  Scientists have found that the overall nutritional pattern is linked to anxiety.  Specifically, a high consumption of foods of Western origin, or a "modern" diet with processed foods, was associated with a 25% higher risk of Anxiety Neurosis -  29%.

1. Choline

Through research, Dr. Jackson and her team have found an association between anxiety and choline.  Choline is a B-vitamins-like substance. Similar to folate, it is used in the methylation cycle.  Patients with low choline consumption have an approximately 33% higher risk of anxiety neurosis.  Choline is mainly found in eggs and tofu, and in most meats.

2. Fermented foods

As we became aware of the gut / brain relationship and the effect of bacteria on mental states, the use of fermented foods in patients with Anxiety Neurosis was noted.  

 "An overview of the effects of probiotics on symptoms of depression in humans" published in late February 2017 by the authors from the Department of Psychiatry, Queen's University, Kingston (Canada) has  refers to several studies of probiotics's effects on Anxiety Neurosis.  One of the trials included two types of bacteria in healthy volunteers.

 The results showed that, after 30 days of using probiotics, the volunteers' anxiety level decreased.  These results are similar to those obtained from a randomized controlled trial of diet improvement for adults with severe depression conducted in Australia and New Zealand recently published earlier this year.

 In addition, scientists from the University of California (USA) and France also believe that fermented foods can alter some of the neuronal pathways that are responsible for processing sensations and emotions of the body.  This holds promise of benefits for patients with Anxiety Neurosis.  For the psychologically unstable patients, eating more fermented foods showed better interactions with society.

 All of these studies are on the same page: fermented foods can be a good choice for patients with Anxiety Neurosis.  With the aim of increasing the diversity of bacteria, and enriching the beneficial bacteria, the probiotics have an effect on nerve vessels that regulate anxiety and improve mental health.

3. Omega - 3

Assoc.  Drew Ramsey describes long-chain Omega-3 fats as "prominent names on the list of links between food and mental health".  In 2011, a randomized controlled trial looking at "Omega-3 supplementation reduces symptoms of inflammation and anxiety in medical students" found that medical students had approximately lower anxiety levels.  20% after supplementing with omega-3.

 As such, long-chain omega-3 fats have a definite role in the realm of psychiatric nutrition.  This substance is found in fish fat.

4. Gluten-free and sugar-free diets

A large 1-year trial in Scandinavia found: "The gluten-free diet and celiac patient Anxiety Neurosis symptoms" have produced interesting findings.  Before the trial, about 72% of patients and 24% of healthy people had a significant degree of anxiety but did not suffer from depression.

 After 1 year, the proportion of patients on a gluten-free diet with registered anxiety decreased significantly to about 25%, and there was no significant change in the control group.  These numbers represent a drastic change.

 On the other hand, in celiac patients with no Anxiety Neurosis symptoms, a gluten-free diet didn't increase their anxiety levels either.  Here's an interesting finding: gluten-free diets can improve anxiety, even in non-depressed patients.

 "Anxiety is one of the symptoms that can and should be treated with nutrition. Most patients with panic disorder, or symptoms of anxiety often do not eat or drink scientifically.  Symptoms of Anxiety Neurosis and panic occur when the patient is hungry or lacks protein and fat in the daily diet. Therefore, improving the diet would be an additional option for the later psychiatrists.  Besides the available therapies such as psychotherapy and selective serotonin inhibitors.

 For patients with symptoms of Anxiety Neurosis, should have a diet increasing green vegetables, seafood and reducing sugary foods, processed foods.  "Improving the diet is sometimes more effective, easier to implement, and more long-term than other depression treatments."
