Foreigners Invest €682 Million in Portuguese Real Estate Market
Discover the latest trends in foreign direct investment in Portugal's real estate sector, with €682 million poured in during the first quarter of 2024.
Foreign direct investment in real estate in Portugal saw a slight decrease in the first quarter of 2024, with a total of 682 million euros invested. This figure is lower than the 853 million euros recorded in the previous quarter, according to data from the Bank of Portugal (BdP). Despite this decrease, real estate still remains the largest sector attracting foreign investment in the country, accounting for more than 600 million euros of the total 1,000 million euros of foreign direct investment in Portugal during the first three months of the year.
The overall foreign direct investment in Portugal in the first quarter of 2024 reached 1,000 million euros, with real estate investment making up a significant portion of this amount. However, the value of real estate investment in the first quarter of 2024 is lower compared to the figures from the end of 2023 and the summer of last year. This indicates a slight slowdown in foreign investment in the real estate sector in Portugal.
While foreign direct investment in real estate in Portugal experienced a slight decline in the first quarter of 2024, the sector continues to be a major attraction for investors. Despite the decrease in investment compared to previous quarters, real estate remains a key driver of foreign direct investment in the country.
