Genmaicha (Japanese for 玄 米 茶) is a popular and is best Japanese green tea, tea is combined from green tea (usually Sencha or Bancha) with roasted brown rice (used as filler) in a proportion.  certain depending on the manufacturer.

 As the tea was poured, a few grains of brown rice that were dried in a snack stored in the servant's sleeve fell into the cup.  Angry that the servant had damaged his green tea, the samurai plucked his sword and killed the tea servant.  But when drinking a cup of tea with the fresh aroma of plants mixed with the chestnut scent of roasted rice creates a full flavor.

 In memory of the deceased servant, the samurai called that green tea combined with roasted rice Genmaicha green tea and enjoyed it every day.

 The truth is closer to reality, green tea is an expensive beverage, confined to the samurai class and rulership.  Tea is too luxury for the Japanese people.

1. Traditional mixing way of Genmaicha green tea 

For Genmaicha green tea, the ratio between tea and water is 2g tea to 150ml, which is perfect for optimal extraction in tea.

- Put 2grams of Genmaicha green tea in a ceramic kettle, add 150ml of 85 degree hot water to the teapot and steep the tea for 3 - 5 minutes to get a delicious cup of Genmaicha green tea to enjoy.

- Add ice for a cool iced Genmaicha green tea to enjoy on a hot summer day.

2. How to make Cold Brew Genmaicha green tea?

- What is cold Genmaicha green tea?

Not like making traditional Genmaicha green tea made with hot water and then cooled or ice.  Cold Brew Genmaicha green tea is a tea made entirely with cold water, cold brew Genmaicha green tea not only retains the strong flavor of Genmaicha green tea but also has a cool taste.

Cold Brew Genmaicha green tea is perfect for drinking during hot summer days.

- You need a 1 - 1.5 liter water tank with a lid to make Cold Brew Genmaicha green tea.  The best is a glass jar for the best tea flavor.

- Take 10grams of Genmaicha green tea into the jar, slowly pour 1 liter of boiled water to cool into the jar and cover tightly.  Refrigerate the tea pot, let the tea leaves slowly extract the solutes for 10 hours.  Ideally, you should steep the tea in the evening and brew it overnight.

Now filter the tea grounds and enjoy Cold Brew Genmaicha green tea throughout the summer.
