Type the phrase "Jeff Bezos' leadership experience" or "Jeff Bezos' leadership secret" into a search engine, and within seconds weigh  can get tens of thousands of results, including articles sometimes are the same, sometimes different, and offer many of the secrets of this world's top successful leader.

However, the leadership secrets that are most enjoyed by the owner of the world's largest online business are in the book "The Art of Leadership" by author David Rubenstein that has just been released to readers.  Like many other famous leaders, in this book he directly shares those secrets.

1- Stock value does not reflect the company's business situation

"We used to hold company-wide meetings at Amazon, and for twenty years, at most meetings, I'd say, 'When the stock goes up 30 percent in a month, don't feel like you're 30% smarter.  Because when stocks drop 30% in a month, you won't be happy to see your stupidity increase by 30%.” Warren Bu◊ett always refers to Benjamin Graham's wonderful quote that in a short time  , the stock market is a voting machine and in the long run the market is a weighing scale. What you need to do is run your company and know that one day it will be on the scale. Let it be weighed. Never spend time worrying about stock prices every day."

2- "A life without a friend is a life without sun"

"I have set up Amazon headquarters in Seattle because Microsoft is there. I thought that a place with abundant human resources in the technology field would be a pretty good place to hire talented people. And it is true.."

3- Appreciating the spirit of a small company

"I find the little things make the big things. I like to think of everything as the little things. Although Amazon is a large company, I want it to always keep its heart and spirit of a small company."

4- Believing in the power of intuition

"We have some very specific ideas about what we want to do, but I also believe in the power of intuition. All of my best decisions in business and in life are taken care of  made with heart hunch, intuition, guts, not analysis. If you can make decisions based on data analysis, then of course you should.  In fact, your most important decisions are made based on instincts, intuition, and a hunch of your heart. We work scientifically when we can, and use our hearts and intuition when we need to."

5- Focus on customers

"I regularly talk to CEOs, founders and entrepreneurs, and I find that even though they're talking about customers, they're really focused on the competition. Any company will  gain the advantage of focusing on your customers, instead of your competitors. Then you have to define who your customers are. In The Washington Post, for example, are the customers the ones who buy our advertising services? No! Customers are readers.  End!

Where do advertisers want them to appear?  Advertisers want to be where there are many readers. So,  It's really not that complicated! With schools, who are the customers? Is it the parents? Is it the teachers? No. The customers are the kids. That's what we do at Day One.  We focus on the kids."

6- Change the business if the old way fails

"The Washington Post's financial situation at the time - in 2013 (when Bezos decided to buy the newspaper) - was very messy. It was a large fixed-cost business and they had been losing money since five or six years ago, I said, "Is this something I want to be involved in?  If I decide to do it, I'll put my heart and soul into it." I decided to invest because I really believe it's an important organization.

Today, thanks to the Internet, the advantage you get is the free distribution.  We had to take advantage of that, and that was also our basic strategy.  Instead of charging high fees per reader in a small group of customers, we decided to redirect our business by charging less per reader to a large set of customers.  That's the transformation we made.  I am happy to report that today this newspaper is more profitable.  The editorial office is growing."

7- Build ideas by working in groups

"Like many other initiatives, it (Amazon Prime - a great way to get paid upfront by actual customers receiving goods and services) was devised by a team. I love coming up with ideas in  group; it's my favorite thing. And it gives me the opportunity to live in the future two to three years in advance."

8- Requiring high IQ for meetings and with senior managers

"Think about it: as a senior manager, what do you get paid for? You get paid to make a small number of high-quality decisions. It's not your job to make thousands.  If I can make three right decisions a day, that's enough. Warren Buffet also said that he would not expect anything more if he made 3 right decisions a year.  I really believe in that.

All of our senior managers operate the same way I do.  They work for the future, they live for the future.  None of the people reporting to me focused solely on the current quarter's numbers.

We'll have a conference call or something like that quarterly, and Wall Street will like our quarterly results.  People will say: "Congratulations, your business results this quarter are very good."  And I said, "Thanks."  But what I really thought was "That quarter was set three years ago."  Here's what you need to do.  You need to do the work of two or three years later."

9- Promote a pioneering and inventive work culture

"I've been asked over the years, "Would you open a brick-and-mortar store?"... I always say, "Yes, but only if we have a different product." When we try to dig through something that is a spin-off, we tend to fail.  Our work culture is more pioneering and inventive."

10- Put strong faith in the chosen job

"This is the most important work I'm doing (space and space travel). I have a strong belief in that... Earth is the best planet. But there are enough problems that we all have.  We're about to face… We can fix that. My role in doing that was that I wanted to build reusable space vehicles. I want to build the infrastructure of space so that the next generations can use it the same way I used UPS and FedEx,... for building Amazon.  That's what Blue Origin is all about."

11- Sleep early, get up early, get enough sleep to lead wisely

"I need eight hours of sleep because I will think better, have more energy and be in a better mood. I want meetings that require high IQ before lunchtime. Anything that needs to be done.  Brainstorming should be included in the 10 a.m. meetings. At 5 p.m., I'd be in a state of, "I can't think about that today.  Come back tomorrow, at 10 a.m."

Not only Jeff Bezos, in the book "The Art of Leadership" by author David M. Rubenstein, readers are also inspired and learn invaluable leadership tips and invaluable leadership experience from the direct sharing of 30 outstanding leaders of the contemporary world, with many famous names such as: Bill Gates, Mellina Gates (now Melinda French) Jeff Bezos, Tim Cook, Richard Branson, Oprah Winfrey, Phil Knight George W. Bush and William J. Clinton. This is also the highlight of the book, because author David M. Rubenstein is a successful businessman, as well as the famous host of his self-titled show The David Rubenstein Show on Bloomberg TV and PBS - where he had the opportunity to meet, exchange and interview directly with hundreds of outstanding and talented people.

Therefore, the book "The Art of Leadership" really deserves the review as a book worth reading.  Direct sharing from carefully selected different leaders gives the book a realism that other ordinary books do not have.  If you are in a leadership position, or are striving to become one in the future, you should really add this book to your list of books to read.
